TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:25-27
(25) Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
(26) That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
(27) That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
KEY VERSE: MATTHEW 5:48
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
God is HOLY. The holy God lives forever in holy Heaven with His holy Angels. God requires perfection from man, which is holiness, to give him everlasting life in Heaven. To be holy is to be free from sin. Being set free from sin requires that a power must interfere with your life. That power is only found in Jesus. Moral perfection has to do with the heart, the seat of Godliness and Righteousness. When the power of Jesus interferes with your heart it cleanses it from sin – giving you freedom from sin. The filthiness of the heart is taken away and you are circumcised. A circumcised man is upright and righteous, very sincere in his dealings. You can find faults with his mistakes but not with his motives.
For instance, King Hezekiah showed the vessels in the temple to the messengers of King Nebuchadnezzar – sincere but mistaken because Nebuchadnezzar later came and carried everything to Babylon. Be careful in handling information before you because lack of proper information can lead to error. However, the holy man does not spend time in thinking evil to perform his task. Mental perfection does not need the gospel: a producer of a table can make it to perfection. He can even be a sinner. This is quite different from moral perfection which is only achieved by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Moral perfection is the desire of our Lord Jesus Christ for all His children. He died to bring the church to holiness, which is attainable. The Shunamite woman testified Prophet Elisha was a holy man of God - 2 Kings 4:9. David testified “I am holy” Psalms 86:2, and Paul testified he and other apostles were holy - 1Thessalonians 2:10. You too can be morally perfect in order to obtain everlasting life. All you need is a willing heart and total submission to Jesus Christ who does everything good for His children.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Surrender your heart to Jesus, He will circumcise it and perfect you in holiness for Heaven.
