EVERY WORD OF GOD FOR DAILY LIVING

Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's Bosom: The rich man also died and was buried.
This story in today's reading text was told by Jesus. It is a real story and not a parable. Lazarus and the rich man were persons who lived on earth at that time. Some historians said the name of the rich man was Davis. The revelation of the scripture shows that before the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the souls of all that died in the world (both the righteous and the sinners) went to a place of abode called hell, to await resurrection to life eternal or resurrection to eternal damnation.
It was a temporary place of abode of the dead. This was where all that died before the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ went to. Both the dead righteous and dead wicked go down to hell before the
resurrection of Jesus Christ. This temporary abode of the dead was divided into two. One section of hell was called paradise while the other was called hell fire.
We can liken it to a 2- bedroom apartment where we have one house but two separate rooms where people can live differently and under different conditions. The hell fire section was (and still is) a place of great and unimaginable torment. This is where sinners go to and are tortured for their iniquity forever. In this section, there is no rest, no peace, no joy, only pains, torments and gnashing of teeth forever.
The other side was called paradise and named after Abraham just like a street in a city can be named after a great man; or a particular road can be named after a great man. The road has been there in existence for a long time even before the birth of the man, but because of his achievements in the society, the road is named after him.
It was in this same manner that paradise, which was underneath the earth and being the temporary abode of the righteous dead, was named after Abraham and called “Abraham's Bosom.” By revelation of scripture, we know that paradise moved from below the earth to heaven above after the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
