TEXT: MARK 16:15-16
(15) And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
(16) He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
KEY VERSE: ACTS 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Water baptism is not for sinners or infants, but for those that have heard the Gospel and have repented of their sins and have responded by faith in the Lord Jesus.
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Water baptism is an outward sign and testimony of our receiving Christ as Lord and Savior and of the washing away of our sins
1 Peter 3:21
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Water baptism is a response to what Christ has done for the Believer. To be valid, it must be preceded by repentance and a personal faith in Christ.
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Water baptism portrays the union of the Believer with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. Therefore, water baptism involves a commitment to a lifelong practice of turning one’s back on the world and all that is evil.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Baptism is for the converted, not for children/unbeliever.
SONG FOR THE DAY: I believe, yes Lord I believe…
BIBLE READING FOR THE DAY: Psalm 68-69; Romans 3
