TEXT: PSALM 103:11-18
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
Key verse: Psalm 113:5 Who is like unto the LORD our God; who dwelleth on high.
My name is Sister Deborah Samuel. On our return to Sokoto after the accident, the bone-setter from Mafara worked on my leg and left. We did an X-ray but the results remained in the envelop; unused. Other bone-setters in Sokoto tried without progress. I was bedridden for months and had painful bedsores but we receivied a life-saving counsel and overcome it. Later, we moved to Bauchi and tried other bone- setters but my case defied all remedies; patients came with broken limbs, recovered and left me there. They opened my leg to see why the bones refused to join and concluded to cut the bones at the edges. This was done with unsterilized knife and no anesthesia. The pains were terrible but the Lord saved me from getting infected.
The exercise was fruitless, yet they repeated the procedure after some months. Brethren, only God knows the agony I went through. My continuous screams could be heard from afar. This time the knife broke in my legs and they could not remove it. They closed up my flesh like that. For months, I felt intense pain radiating from my leg because of the broken knife in my body. The bones did not rejoin, rather my flesh was pining away and the bones were dying as the marrow dried up and darkened. God in His mercy prevented me from death through tetanus and gangrene. We decided to visit Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH but it required millions.
Pastor Cheson directed us to his former (MD) the surgeon that saved my life. He slashed the medical bill and carried out the complex operation in his clinic. My husband had to stand as surety because chances of my survival were 50-50. I received an intrathecal injection into my vertebral column to enable the surgeon harvest bone marrow from my hips which he used to revive the dead leg bones. He discovered and removed the broken blade left in my leg by the bone-setters. He even did prolonged wound dressing for me after the surgery free of charge; we only paid for drugs. Thank God that my wounds have healed. I can now move about with clutches and will soon be able to walk unaided. I thank God for Daddy Paul Rika, Mummy Linda, brethren in Sokoto, Kano, Bauchi, Plateau and other places.
Thought for the day: The steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord.
Song for the day: When I remember what the Lord has done, I will never go back…
