TEXT: MARK 16:15-16
(15) And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
(16) He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
KEY VERSE: ACTS 8:36
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptised?
Water baptism is a rite commanded to be carried out on all who have repented and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. Baptism must be done without delay.
Acts 8: 36-38
And as they went on their way they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, if thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch: and he baptized him.
Those who have become converted to Christ and have all the privilege to be baptized in water but play carelessness at it are into disobedience and sin. Our text today Mark 16:16 says, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Whatever therefore, that is hindering you to obey this command, may also hinder you from going to Heaven.
Ministers of the Gospel must be prompt at baptizing their converts in water.
Matthew 28: 19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Acts 22: 16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Biblical water baptism is by immersion of one into a body of water in the name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is the baptism formula carried out by the Apostles. The phrase baptism ‘in the name of Jesus’ means, baptism as commanded by Jesus, to differentiate it from the baptism of John and of the Hellenists by the Pharisees on their converts. Jesus Himself showed us example when He went to John to be baptized in river Jordan.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Why tarriest thou? Arise and be baptized.
SONG FOR THE DAY: I have decided to follow Jesus
BIBLE READING FOR THE DAY: Psalm 10-12; Acts 17:16-34
