1 Samuel 25: 14-38
KEY VERSE: 2 Samuel 20: 22 “Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they retired from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.”
These women manifested wisdom, resourcefulness, diligence, prudence and selflessness to achieve their seemingly impossible tasks. Emulate such virtues in your difficult situations.
Abigail was the wife of a churlish, foolish man, Nabal who refused David's request for hospitality in the wilderness of Paran. Then David vowed to go and wipe away his whole household. But Abigail's prompt response prevailed on David's anger and her family was saved. Not only that she saved her family, but afterward became the wife of king David after her husband died. What a great privilege! Read 1 Sam 25:1-42.
From the whole story, we discover the following virtues demonstrated by Abigail: prudence, diligence, wisdom, resourcefulness in prompt response (18, 23); meek and quiet spirit and soft answer. (:23-25); hospitality (:18-27). “A soft answer turneth away wrath” Proverbs 15: 1
Woman of Abel: From the key verse you see how the wisdom of this “mother in Israel” saved the city of Abel from destruction in the hands of Joab and his men. The scripture says wisdom is profitable to direct. Pray and use godly wisdom on your difficult husband and God will grant your heart desires in Jesus name.
Esther also, using her resourcefulness, through prayer and her feminine virtues received favour from her difficult husband and delivered her nation from destruction Esther 4:10,11, 15,16; 5:1-8; 7:1-6, 10; 8:1. Esther will forever be remembered by her statement, “If I perish I perish!”
In this wise you need to exercise wisdom like these wise women in the bible, who through wisdom and diligence, delivered nations and saved lives from the hands of the hard and foolish men and husbands, like the wise woman of Abel, Esther and Abigail.
Thought for the day: Every wise woman buildeth her house.
Song for the day: When I remember His promises I shout Alleluia...
Bible reading for the day: Zechariah 4-6; Revelation 18
