Philippians 2:22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
God Himself, called Timothy and brought him to Paul and to the Christian ministry. Paul was speaking on how he laid hands on Timothy, urging him to stir up the gift that was in him that he may do the work.
There is something commendable about Timothy's loyalty and submission to Paul. Timothy was not self-seeking. He was not looking for his own glory. He was not looking for a name. He was not proud. Pride is the problem of young men.
They want to be known. I was discussing with a youth who was full of ambition. I told him that I started the Christian ministry when he was probably two years old. It took several years for me to get to where I am now, receiving invitation here and there for ministration. But you came yesterday, and you want to grow like banana?
Who climbs on banana? Does anybody climb on banana stem? If not banana, which other tree would you plant now and it will grow so fast? Is there any other tree? It will take time to grow. Why then are you so full of haste? Did the Lord tell you that you are dying tomorrow? Is that why you are in so much haste?
Even if the Lord told you so, He is the one to do it, not you. So, why are you so hasty? Why are you so full of yourself? Why are you seeking your name, seeking your glory?
Why don't you behave like Timothy? The Lord brought him to Paul and Timothy submitted himself to Paul up to the end of Paul's ministry. He was a minister. Not a minister for himself, not a minister for his own glory.
Thought for the day:
Timothy was not self-seeking. Learn from him.

Be lifted higher (2x) O Lord be lifted high…
