TEXT: ROMANS 1:16-17
(16) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
(17) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
KEY VERSE: HABAKKUK 2:4
Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
When someone repents from sin and receives Jesus, he becomes a new creature as the scripture says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if anyone be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” This person’s new walk is characterized by all newness. Who is a just person? A just person is the one who walks with God, doing all the will of God. The just person is the one who yields the whole of his heart to God.
A just person is a believer. The key verse emphasizes individual faith. There are times when the church can have faith for God to intervene in your situation, but ultimately, the scriptures encourage individual believer to have faith for themselves.
There was a man who came to plead with Jesus to come over to his house and heal his sick daughter. Whilst he was still with Jesus, news came from home informing him that his daughter had died but Jesus informed him not to be afraid but believe. Mark 5:36.
Likewise to you, no matter the situation before you, you must believe in God. Who are the overcomers in this life? The Bible tells us that if you continue to be just and believing, you are an overcomer. Please know that the scriptures cannot be broken. Faith is a complete confidence and reliance on God’s Word.
The Faith of the Just is Based on the Following:
God: The just knows that God is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent. Whatever the problem is, God is aware and can do all things. Therefore, the just believes in God for that. The just knows that God is willing. A leper came to Jesus and told Him, “if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean”. And Jesus put forth His hand and touched him saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed; Matthew 8:2-3.
Christ’s sacrifice: The just knows that because of the sacrifice of Jesus, he will have what he desires. Therefore, he believes in God. Romans 8:32. He believes that the blood of Jesus has purchased redemption for him; His stripes have healed him. The name of Jesus brings victories. Therefore, he stands and claims the benefits of Jesus.
The Word of God: Isaiah 55:10-11 - The just believes that the Word of God cannot fail. He knows that when God sends His Word, it does not return void but rather it produces right results and because of this, the just believes God’s Word.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The overcomers of life are those that are just and believe in God.
SONG FOR THE DAY: I believe, yes Lord, I believe, yes Lord, I believe it is well with me
BIBLE READING FOR THE DAY: Genesis 23-24; Matthew 8
