1 Peter 2:21-25
Matthew 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
Jesus is an example in suffering. His life was a bundle of suffering. He was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. In His birth, there was no room for Him. As He grew up in ministry the people would pick up stones to throw at Him until He was taken to the cross over false charges. Those who benefited in the miracle He performed denied Him for fear of men.
They spat on His face, they slapped Him, they put a crown of thorns on His head, they struck Him with a spear, He was mocked till death. By these, He remains the best example for us in exemplary life.
Tradition has it that Peter had the privilege to suffer part of what Jesus went through. As his persecutors wanted to crucify him, he broke off and started running away.
As he ran away, he saw Jesus in a revelation going to where his persecutors were, so he asked, “Lord where are you going?” Jesus replied, “I am going to the cross to be crucified the second time.” “But why?” He asked. “I left you an example but you are refusing it.” Peter replied, “Lord, you cannot go back to the cross the second time.”
So, Peter went back to those people and they crucified him upside down at his request.
God has no child that does not pass through suffering. Why are you running away from suffering? What would you say to God if you give up Jesus, give up holiness just because of a little challenge from your husband?
“My husband doesn't like my dressing without make up and jewelries.” Would that be a tenable excuse before Jesus after He has set for you an example to follow? Can't you bear it like Jesus even if they make you a laughingstock in the society because of your dressing or they are denying you your rights and promotion in the office?
Maybe they have even decided to sack you from the job because your attitude has changed and you are no more cooperating with them on making money through fraudulent means. Jesus has left an example for you to follow, just continue in it and don't mind all the persecutions.
Thought for the day:
Follow the example of Christ; it will take you to heaven.
Song for the day:
Shepherd of my soul, I give you full control….
Bible reading for the day:
