Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
When do we say somebody is successful?
We say a person is successful when:
You started this Christian life for quite some time now. Are you successful in it? We would say you are successful if at this point in time you are still in Christ, you are righteous, living holy, faithful in the assignments given to you by Jesus and walking in obedience to His word to date. It is then you are successful in your Christian life.
Another mark of a successful Christian life and ministry is faithful service to Jesus at your duty post. That is, if you remain where Jesus called you to, and have not unilaterally relocated yourself to a place you consider to be more comfortable or profitable;
If you remain in the will of God and have not abandoned His work or started engaging in a duty He has not given you; if the Lord is saying to you at your duty post, “Well done good and faithful servant!” You are a successful minister when you preach the truth and do not compromise and do not give room for heresy or error in your ministry.
Paul said, “I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision.” You are successful if righteousness and holiness are what you teach and preach up till today and those who hear you are changing and conforming to the image of Christ. What if this is not your case?
You have even left the work and you are doing another thing now. You have abandoned your station of calling. Not that the Lord relocated you to another place of service, but you went by yourself and abandoned your place of primary assignment. What if this is the case with you?
Suppose you began the Christian life for some years but you have fallen into immorality, you lie, you steal, you abort and engage in all kinds of sinful acts? In this case, you are not a successful Christian. You might have started the the Christian life but you failed/backslidden along the way.
You went back to your vomit committing immorality with members of your church. You are involved in embezzlement of money. Your attention has shifted from truth to money. You are a total failure! You must retrace your steps back to Jesus.
Thought for the day:
Diligence and faithfulness will bring you great success in life.
Song for the day:
Don't be tired in your work, Don't be tired in your faith, Don't be tired in praying...
Bible reading for the day:
Job 23-25; Acts 10:24-48
