KEY VERSE: TITUS 2:10
Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
Restitution is correcting past wrong doings. It is required in accordance to the doctrine of the Holy Scripture. It is the practical way to show that one is born again. It is the practical way to show to people that your confession is real. When people hear that you did restitution, they know it was done as to the will of God to glorify His name and adorn the gospel of Christ. They will believe what you tell them about your salvation in Christ. They will also desire to commit themselves to Christ so as to be like you.
And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
If a notorious armed robber, kidnapper or well-known thief repents genuinely and begins to practice restitution by returning stolen goods and cash to the rightful owners, it will show to all that he has truly repented and his neighbors will give glory to God. This will be a great message not only to his neighbors but to all who hear of the testimony. Have you repented of your sins and given your life to Christ? Then do your restitution to advertise the gospel of Christ to your community and neighborhood. Get closer to God through your restitution.
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Restore all stolen goods.
SONG FOR THE DAY: Create in me a clean heart oh Lord
BIBLE READING FOR THE DAY: 2 Kings 1-3, John 3:22-36
