TEXT: 1 JOHN 2:15-17
(15) Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
(16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
(17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
KEY VERSE: 1TIMOTHY 5:22
Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.
Worldliness refers to sinful lifestyles. It involves the love of pleasure. People of the world derive sinful pleasure from corrupt activities, such as drinking alcohol, smoking, partying, womanizing, gambling, etc. Worldliness also includes ungodly dressing and adornments, love of money, love of fashion and pleasures of this life, fleshly games and entertainment, worldly music and dancing, etc. Sinners in the world do not submit to decent dressings. They dress to exalt self, entice others and promote sin.
They use articles to make-up or enhance their bodily beauty such as perfume, earrings, chains, necklace, finger rings, nose rings artificial fingers nails, bracelets, beads, artificial hair such as weave-on, wigs and hair attachment, eyelashes cortex, lip sticks etc. All these things are evil and are condemned by the Word of God. They constitute filthiness to the body which the Lord commands us to cleanse ourselves of them. It is a wicked and abominable accusation against the perfect Creator concerning His handiwork.
And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments. For the Lord had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee. And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb.
As a believer in the world where sin reigns, we must steer clear of worldly lifestyle and activities because Christ reigns in us. Purify yourself from all filthiness of the world which also include, wearing of trouser (pants) as a woman, mini / fitted skirts and dyeing of the hair.
2 Corinthians 7:1
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
