TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 7:1
(1) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
KEY VERSE: 1 PETER 1:15-16
But as he who hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
God's holiness and life everlasting is attained through our LORD Jesus Christ. Perfection is a lifestyle that has no error; a life that lives without any blame in life. Holiness is moral perfection that involves getting rid of all unrighteousness and un-holiness. There must be freedom from sin before Heaven because nothing defiled will enter the kingdom of God. Thus, there is need for a perfect or complete obedience to holy living so as to attain the everlasting life. The fruits one bears must be holy so as to attain everlasting life. Someone or a power must make sure you are free from sin or be delivered from sin and that one Person is Jesus Christ.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
In this salvation, your participation is required. You are to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. After being made free, you will be sanctified and purified. Holiness involves moral perfection which deals with the heart’s sanctification and body cleansing. Holiness requires our being sincere and innocent to ourselves and to those around us with good motives and with pure heart that bears the fruit of the Spirit. Speak the truth at all time, be the light in that dark, and the environment you reside.
Let true Christianity be seen in you and let men testify of your good characters. Perfect holiness means being crucified with Christ, living in His image and resembling Him (let this life also be in you). Let people know you by the fruits that you bear. Let your perfection in holiness be vivid or seen. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in all. Perfection in something can be attained by anybody but moral perfection can only be achieved by the Word through Jesus Christ.
It is very possible to live a holy life. Avoid unbelief towards the Brethren's holy living. Do not let the devil deceive you that living holy is impossible. Have a balanced understanding to overcome satanic accusations. Holiness is not only visible to yourself but also to others. The Shunamite woman perceived that Elisha was holy because of his character and lifestyle.
