TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:22-27
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Key verse: Ephesians 5:21
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Wisdom is needed when things do not flow freely because of contrary circumstances. You may face temptations to compromise holiness in your marriage. Apply wisdom from God to enable you to leap over or maneuver around these circumstances. Obedience and wisdom will make you live the holy and righteous life that God expects from you in your marriage. He expects you to be perfect in marriage and family life. So, believer, stand up to it. Be vigilant because God’s demand and your challenges are great. Ensure you don’t fail. Always ask for help.
Apostle Paul wrote to husbands and wives into the church of Christ and the Lord says He wants to present the church to Himself, glorious, without spot or wrinkle; holy and without blemish; and husbands and wives are members of the church of Christ. God wants to present you holy to Himself. Therefore, make sure you keep yourself holy so that you can be among those the Lord will present to Himself, among those Jesus will be presenting to the Father. In Ephesians 1:1-2, Paul introduced the recipients, “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus.”
So, the epistle was written to the saints, both male and female, husbands and wives. To the saints and the faithful believers in Christ Jesus. It is a command to people who are Christians. The epistle is written to you who are already a Christian that you should ensure that you live according to the word of God in marriage. You are already a Christian but may be ignorant of this. Know the way God wants you to live and live the way He wants you to live; this is what God expects of you if you are a believer. As a married woman or a married man, one that is faithful in Christ Jesus. This word is coming to those who are considered to be faithful in Christ Jesus.
Thought for the day: Prove yourself faithful in marriage for the sake of heaven.
Song for the day: Make me perfect…make me perfect oh Lord…
Bible reading for the day: Isaiah 41-42; Colossians 1
