TEXT: MARK 7:6- 8
6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 14:40 “Let all things be done decently and in order”
The church of God must operate orderly for our God is not author of confusion. A minister or a true child of God needs to moderate himself void of worldliness. The appearance of a minister matters a lot. You are representing the holy God or performing service for the holy God and must be decent in your appearance. Avoid worldliness in your hairdo. Desist from funny hairstyles such as punk, perming, bleaching your skin and wearing trouser as a woman. Avoid incomplete gospel: Matthew 28:20 says teaching them to observe all things. Don’t leave out anything about heaven and hell; what to strive to achieve to enter heaven and what to avoid to escape hell.
Teach them holiness of the soul, spirit and body to present them as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto God. Exalt God’s word above the tradition of men. Preach the truth and save souls from hell. Avoid comedy gospel that keeps people busy laughing and remove soberness that true gospel brings about. It does not take to heaven. Unholy drama does not convert sinners. Take away dancing from the church, Jesus sang hymn so don’t introduce sinners to dancing instead of the word of God breaks sin. Manage the resources of God righteously for you will give account of how you treat God’s money. It is not your company 1 Timothy 6:10.
Employ righteous method of counselling, especially with the opposite sex. Let it be in the open. Avoid any appearance of evil, 1Thessalonians 5:22. Be careful who you choose as a Mentor: Follow someone to the point that he follows Christ. If he refuses to follow righteousness and holiness, treat him as an expired drug. Don’t follow a sinner and claim he is your mentor, 1 Corinthian 11:1. Payment of tithe of tithes is not applicable in the New Testament. A ministry is already a store house (Malachi 3:10). It is the individuals who earn income that pay tithe, not a church.
Thought for the day: It is the word of God that takes to heaven, emphasis it.
Song for the day: Open my eyes O Lord, Hallelujah 3x I am ready to obey 2x.
Bible reading for the day:
Psalm 119:105-176; 1 Corinthians 5
