TEXT: JOHN 14:13-14
(13) And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
(14) If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
KEY VERSE: MATHEW 21:22
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayers, believing, ye shall receive.
Prayer is a duty, so men ought always to pray and not faint.
How should a believer pray?
→ Pray in Jesus’ name: To ask in Jesus’ name is to ask in His place, ask for His sake, ask for His glory, ask the Father in His name as His representative on earth. Whatever resources you need for the work of the Lord, ask and He will supply them. The materials you need to make you live the Christian life, to make you evangelize and be fruitful in life and to make you a better Christian, ask all in the name of Jesus.
→ Pray in Righteousness: God wants you to ask anything. Whatsoever you can ask that will move God to demonstrate His power in your life and move people to give Him glory, that is what God wants, But he says, you must ask in righteousness.
The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you.
Make sure you are living a righteous Christian life, abiding in Christ, and that the Word of God abides in you. God heareth the prayer of the righteous. When evil people made the king to decree that whosoever prays to any other God except to the king, the same should be thrown into the lion’s den, it was so. God heard the prayer of righteous Daniel.
→ Pray in faith with confidence: Faith gives our prayer power and effectiveness.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
As you go to prayer, the little time you kneel or stand to pray, ask with total confidence.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Ask in faith and wait patiently for the answer.
