TEXT: JUDGES 21: 25,
In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes. HEBREWS 13:17Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 14:40; Let all things be done decently and in order.
The Lord wants us to be orderly and decent in our ways; both as individuals and a body of believers. He is not the author of confusion;
He is the God of peace, and order. That is why He gave us leaders to order our steps according to His ways in His church. In this way, the beauty of Jesus will manifest in His church. Where there is disorderliness and indecency, it will mean either that there is no leadership in the church or that the leadership is weak. When the people do not follow the course of God nor are submissive to leadership authority, it means also that they want to be left to themselves. Where there is no leadership, they will naturally follow any direction they wanted or do as their hearts desired. When you want to be left to yourself, that is, leave me alone to do it my way, it clearly means you are not under the leadership of God. It shows that you are not in Christ because any person left to himself is a backslider in heart. If you are a true child of God;
you will obey leadership willingly.
Be resolved to obey the leadership God has raised over you and others in the Christian ministry. God sets leadership over His own people so that His sheep should not be scattered for want of shepherds. For you to live this Christian life fruitfully and make it to heaven, you must develop and inculcate discipline into your life. You must cultivate personal Christian discipline. Discipline is the act of self-control, self-direction on the path of righteousness. It is the act of personal orderliness that you bring to yourself because you want to achieve something for God, not for self. Despite that others are to work on you for God, you are to work on yourself also to be fit for the race. The Christian race is compared to the profession of a soldier where both personal discipline is required and the discipline the superiors bring upon his life. All these are done to make him a soldier pleasing to his superior, serving the country well. 2 Timothy Chapter 2:1-7 tells us to be personally disciplined and as leaders, discipline others to bring them to order and decency.
Thought for the day:
Christianity is decency and orderliness
Song for the day:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way ……
