1 Timothy 4: 6-16
1 Timothy 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine
Timothy spent time reading the scriptures. He followed apostolic exhortation to study the word when he came under Paul. Everything about Paul was the word - the knowledge of the word, the revelation of the word, the power of the word and the interpretation of the word. He gave himself completely to the word.
When Timothy joined him he told him that he too must give prime attention to the word. That is why I do not spare anybody when we come to conference and that includes my wife. You must be in the hall of meeting to hear the word. You cannot sit idle while the message is going on.
You cannot give yourself to any other thing but to listen to the word of God. The word is precious. Do not see yourself as a big minister with great anointing, so you do not need the word. You must understand that there is a difference between anointing and holiness. No matter your degree of anointing, if your life is empty of the word, you become a play toy in the hands of the devil to your shame and embarrassment.
You will fall flat in regret. As anointed as Samson was, the word was not in him. That was why he became an easy prey for Satan and was always going into immorality. Absence of the word makes you a featherweight and turns you into a spiritual carcass.
All these Christianity of immorality, examination malpractices, witchcraft, drunkenness, and worldly dancing that is prevalent in the church today is largely because the youths are not trained in the scriptures. When you are not raised up by the scriptures, it will be impossible to live up to the standard of God.
But for the youths that have been introduced to the scriptures and taught everything from the scriptures, they are built on the rock. As you go about, it will be hard for you to fall into immorality or any temptation because the devil no longer has power over you.
Thought for the day:
