1 Chronicles 29:1-9
2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
In today's reading text, we see the way people love the Lord. You can see how people with original heart spend their money and use their material resources for God. They seemed to be competing or outdoing one another in giving for the cause of the gospel work. This is fantastic! They were all bringing materials and contributing generously towards the building of God's house.
They were all eager to build a befitting temple for the Lord their God.
David was the leader and the man that came with the vision. He must lead by example. Brother, you are the leader, you must lead by example in prayer life, in evangelism life, in your charity, in your giving for the gospel work, in your zeal for the service of the Lord, in your preaching, even in your home you must lay a good example.
Lay an example so that others may follow. Show people how much you can give for Jesus. You must go beyond given peanuts offerings to God Give as long as you have the power to do it. Show that you can give God more than that.
I was in a church service and when it was time for offering, I observed affluent members who came in exotic cars dropping an offering that belittle their status. This a congregation of about a thousand. I can't remember how much I dropped but I certainly, gave more than the richest man in that church and I was a guest Minister!
Brother, Sister, don't limit yourself in giving. Others may not have understood the calling, they may not have provocation of love for God, but you that know should set an example for them. Be like the widow that dropped the two pence. When people see you do what is right and that honors God, they will follow your footsteps.
This way, you are teaching them righteousness. You are teaching them how to love God. Know that the hand of the giver is always on top. You are accumulating a great reward for yourself. Amen.
Thought for the day:
