TEXT: PSALM 89: 19-24
19 Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:
21 With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
23 And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.
24 But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.

In the ministry of Jesus. we do not see Jesus using anointing oil on anybody. When
He sent out His disciples, did He give them bottles of anointing oil? No. There was
no record. But the disciples when the Bible says in Mark 6:12, I think that they
anointed people with oil, which means it was in common possession. They could
have gotten this oil from the houses of those people as first aid. “Anointed some
people with oil and healed them” What did they heal them with? Is it oil or the Name
of Jesus? They healed them with the name of Jesus.
Now James, in the book of the Acts of Apostles with the diverse healings and
miracles that took place there; did you hear of the account of oil there? No. Now
come to the ministry of Paul the apostles which the Lord raised up, the Lord blessed
and anointed, did we hear Paul talk about anointing oil? No. It was mentioned once
in James, “Is anyone sick among you, let him do what? Let him go and meet the
elders. Is that what the Bible says? Let him call for the elders, which means your
case is heavy, else you should have gone to them but you are now to call for the
elders. You call because even in Jesus’ time there were issues that they called Him
to their houses which means they were heavy issues.
There were heavy issues that they called Him to the house; otherwise, the sick ones
were brought to Him. “My daughter is even now dead” “My servant is lying at home
grievously tormented; can you come and heal him?” Jesus visited those houses. So,
if anyone is sick, let him call the elders. It is not for common ailments. Let them pray
over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord and the prayer of faith shall
save the sick and the Lord shall raise him up and if he has committed sin, it shall be
forgiven him. That rubbing as we suppose, is a communication of love to the sick as
the hand of a lover. How do you see the hand of the doctor on your body? When the
doctor touches the affected parts, you feel reassured.
Thought for the day: Communication of love seems to strengthen faith of the sick.
Song for the day: He touched me, O Jesus touched me…
Bible reading for the day: Psalm 19-21; Acts 19:21-41
