TEXT: MARK 6:30-32
(30) And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
(31) And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
(32) And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
KEY VERSE: 2 TIMOTHY 2:6
The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
Love is the Great Commandment. The first is to love God and the second is to love your neighbor as yourself. God has not commanded you to love others and neglect yourself. That is why you must not labor for others to the neglect of your own wellbeing. He wishes you to go on to the end until Jesus comes for you at death or in the rapture, so that you can carry your ministry to the end. You need preservation and this preservation is for your body, for your spirit, and for your soul. God desires that we who minister to others in the Gospel should also minister to ourselves so that we may be first partaker in the benefits of the Gospel. He says. "Take care of yourself because I want fullness from you. I want you to receive the blessing of it, spiritually and physically.”
1 Thessalonians 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Since the husbandman that laboreth must be first partaker of the fruits, make sure you minister to your spirit and soul before ministering to others. By this understanding, we are combining both the spirit and the soul, although in reality we know that they are separate. Make sure that you take care of your spiritual life well. Don't neglect it for any reason. This counsel is essential because it is often the case with many Christian workers and ministers to overwork themselves serving others to the neglect of their own wellbeing. They are busy working for others while they neglect their own lives. Eat well, rest well, sleep well and take good care of your health as you labour in the vineyard of God. This way, you will preserve yourself strong enough to face tomorrow’s task. Even Jesus in His earthly ministry found time to rest. Mark 6:31 says, “And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Take good care of yourself, physically and spiritually.
SONG FOR THE DAY: Grace, Thy grace alone is all I plead for.
BIBLE READING FOR THE DAY: Psalm 13-16; Acts 18

Father God, please teach me how to preserve my self as I minister to others. Help me to tend to my spiritual and physical life also.

Heavenly Father, help me to always examine my ways, help me to focus on myself, help me to amend my errors and not to turn blind eyes to it and pointing at others. Help me to look within first before looking outward, help me to perfect my ways before stretching my hands to perfect others. All these I ask in Jesus name. Amen!
