TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 7:10-11
Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Marriage is a divine institution hence every marriage is honorable in the sight of God. God is love, so live in love. Husbands, love your wives. Wives too are to submit to their husbands as head of the family.
Bible says in Colossians 3:18, 19 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
Your marriage is for life. In marriage, there is no divorce, no separation and no remarriage. Even though separation is permissible in extreme cases it must be for justifiable reasons. Without justifiable reasons, separation is evil because the man or woman you are separating from is a human who needs a woman or man to keep him/her warm.
The Bible says, “to avoid fornication let every man have his own wife and every woman her own husband.” Now this man has had his own wife, why did you separate from him for flimsy reasons? The Lord will not take that from you because you are working with Satan to send a soul to hell.
For any separation to be acceptable to God, the reason must be justifiable and so clear that even the people around will agree with you that for the sake of righteousness, for the sake of understanding, for the sake of peace, you have no option than to withdraw for a season. Since it is for a while, you can still come together again to continue your marital relationship when situation that brought about separation improves.
Given the seriousness of the matter, it follows that the reason for separation has to be properly evaluated and judged in the light of scripture under good counselling. Christian marriage is between one man and one woman, therefore, polygamy or remarriage while first spouse is still alive is completely ruled out.
Romans 7:2, 3; For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. 3. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
Thought for the day:
Be faithful to the wife of your youth. Wife, submit to your husband.
Song for the day:
I am married to Jesus, Satan leave ma alone.....
