BY PASTOR PAUL RIKA (Int'l Director Holiness Revival Movement Worldwide) DATE: WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 30 TEXT: GENESIS 14:18-20 KEY VERSE: Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. “ QUESTION: Some denominations do not believe in tithe payment. I want to be cleared Sir and another thing is that some people pay tithe directly to ministers, is it right?
ANSWER: (Part 1) From our text we see this case before the children of Abraham were born, before the law was given, maybe about 400 years after Abraham was paying tithe. He paid tithe to a man called Melchizedek and Melchizedek who was he? He was the priest of the most High God. He was the minister of the Most High God. We didn't have the details of Melchizedek but Abraham would have known him, Abraham would have been convinced about him, Abraham would have been well directed to do what he did knowing that it is to God as a priest, as a minister of God represented God. It means the Lord led you to give tithe to a minister of God. You know the minister; you know his life and work that it is in truth and righteousness. You can do that because the Lord has led you to the right place. You can do that, that is to say the tithe that you want to give to the minister of God that person should be a true servant of the God of heaven. Yes, but you say he is not a pastor over a church the Bible says the human body don't have the same members, we have the eye, we have the nose, we have the ear, we have the hand, we have other members that are inside that we don't see them. They work together to form the whole body. In the same way, the ministers in the body of Christ do not carry out the same function. There are some that are pastors that gather congregation to pastor them, there are some that are evangelist they don't have congregations, some have prayer ministry, some have children ministry, some have different kinds of ministry that may not have a building gathering people but they are true servants of God, true ministers of God and we are all working together to produce salvation for mankind. Even though a minister of God may not be presiding over a church, but if you are convinced that what he is doing for God is a great thing, it should occur to you that he too may need money to carry on the good work. He cries to God for his needs to prosper the work of ministry in his hand and God in turn in answer to his prayer can direct his money in your hand (tithe) to be channeled to his ministry. The money is God's, not yours or your denomination's hence he should direct where it goes. The man that calls a prayer conference needs money to organize the programme. If he calls on God, God will give him by directing his faithful tithe payers to channel part to the minister. Thought for the day: God has the liberty to channel his tithe to any ministry of His choice. Song for the day: Where He leads me, I will follow...
