WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 11
1John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
You need power to live the future without sin because sin can still come even though you have made up your mind not to sin again. Sin can still overpower you. There is no man who can on his own keep himself free from sin. Only Jesus can break the power of sin and Satan.
1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
Jesus died on the cross to set you free from the power of sin and Satan. So, apart from getting the old record settled, you need strength and power now for the future life so that you do not sin again, for he that is born of God does not commit sin and that power not to sin is only found in Jesus.
That is why you have to come to Jesus, for as many that received Him to them gave He power to become the sons of God. Jesus is the only one that gives power to go and sin no more. That is why you have to come to Jesus to receive from Him the power not to sin anymore. Praise the Lord!
Just as you needed Jesus to escape judgment for your past sins, you also need Jesus to give you power to overcome future sins because Satan, temptations and the sinful world are still present with you. There is still the possibility of going back to your sin as a dog goes back to its vomit.
To overcome the temptation to sin, you need Jesus' Spirit and power in you.
Jesus told that woman caught in adultery, “Go and sin no more.” That pronouncement is power just as He pronounced on Peter, “Come.” That word went with power, which made Peter walk on water.
So, when the Lord says “go and sin no more,” power follows that word - the power to sustain you and give you victory over sin. If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; his evil lifestyle is gone; old things are passed away, all things become new. Praise the Lord!.
