EVERY WORD OF GOD FOR DAILY LIVING

Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
The Lord is calling you to an exemplary life that will serve as an example to others. It is the life of light. You are a light to the world. You are a city built on a hill that cannot be hidden. You are a lamp that is put on top of the table that men may see in the darkness, that men may be helped; that men may see the light of Jesus in you and emulate your life as an example.
There was somebody from one of the states in northern Nigeria that lived this exemplary life and it could not be hidden from casual observers. A Muslim was speaking to a fellow in the university classroom when this person was passing by. As the Muslim brother saw him, he said, “If that man will come and preach Jesus to me I will believe.”
He said this because he had seen his life, his exemplary lifestyle. That is the power in an exemplary life. Again a children's teacher was teaching in the classroom and he started giving a description of who Jesus was in character, in life style, in behavior, and how loving Jesus is. As he was describing Jesus, a child raised up his hand to ask a question.
The teacher asked, “Son, what do you have to say?” This child's reply was, “I have seen that Jesus before. I know him. He is my neighbor.” What the child was actually saying was that there was a man living in his neighborhood whose lifestyle perfectly fitted the description of the teacher. So, he took him to be the Jesus his teacher was trying to describe. That is the power of an exemplary life.
In another instance, evangelists went out for a crusade and showed a Christian film for the people to watch. A Muslim woman was there and as she watched the film on the gospel of Jesus she said, “Actually, I believe in this. I would have submitted my life to Jesus, but I fear for my two daughters. If I become a Christian, definitely they would come with me, but I am afraid they would be contaminated by the naked dressing of Christian women I am seeing these days.
I cannot join this Christianity and see my daughters exposing their nakedness.” That is a contrary Christian life with the negative power of a sinful lifestyle. Brother, sister, is your life drawing people to Jesus or driving them away?
