TEXT: Deuteronomy 22:1-12 Key verse: Romans 10:4: “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth.” QUESTION: Why the emphasis that a woman should not wear trouser but not on the other laws in Deuteronomy 22?
ANSWER: This is part of the law given to the children of Israel. Now we are not in the time of the law. We are in the time of Grace. Christ is the end of the law. The righteousness of the law says every Israelites must obey these things to live. But the present righteousness is written in our hearts for the just shall live by faith. The present righteousness is not by keeping the Law of Moses but by observing the principles of righteousness and as a result some details of the law that applied to Israel have been abolished. But the principles of righteousness that lived in the Law continues because the Law is written in our conscience. It is now in our hearts. Now we still have to obey it in Christ because it will affect our morality. Deuteronomy 22:1 Thou shalt not see the brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again unto thy brother. The Bible says, “To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth not, to him it is sin.” Again the Lord summarized the whole law in one word, love. If for instance you find your brother's one-and-a-half years old child straying off on the street, would you leave the child there and go your own way or quickly pick him up and take him to his parents (or the law enforcement agency) who must have been troubled looking for him? What would be the righteous thing to do? So, you can see that the principle of love still holds in Christ. You would be expected to treat the child the way you would treat yours? Therefore, the principle of moral law is the same in all generations up till this time. Deuteronomy 22:5: The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God. The use of trousers by women is condemned because it stirs lusts in men and promotes immorality in the society. Based on this fact, this law has not been cancelled because all about the commandments of God is righteousness and holiness. Thought for the day: The moral law continues. I THINK THE GOOD LORD FOR ALL THAT HE WANT AS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLINESS,IN AND OUT ,I HAVE QUESTION ON WOMEN SHOES,IF IT'S OK FOR A WOMAN TO PUT ON HIGH SHOES,THAT'S QUESTION I WANT TO KNOW ,

what about thoes living in very cold countries? They need warm clothing and trust me its easier to be warm in a pair of jeans than in a long skirt. what i undestand from that DET 22:5 is that do not wear what belongs to a man, do not borrow a man T- shirt or sweaters or anything that he owns. If you think it is only trousers that pertains to a man then you kid yourself. women should not wear work shirts and some of the long sleeve shirts we wear because they partain to the male Gender. Thanks

I think that woman are wearing trousers, do not make them to be doing the right things. Some things we christians do (e.g wearing of trousers by women), i think they are under permissive wills of God. And if Christians OK trousers for women, then it is also OK for Christian brothers to use ear rings!
