TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 11: 1-16
1 Corinthians 11:13 “Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?”
Is it compulsory for a woman to always cover her hair, even while at home or walking in the street, even though you plait your hair? For someone like me, I always cover my hair everywhere either in the house or outside. So, people are saying that, it is not holiness because by covering it all the time, air does not go through my hair . Also that when it is plaited I should leave my hair open and only cover it when I am in the church or praying.
A woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered, dishonoreth her head. So, it is the same as shaving so if a woman will not cover her head while praying or prophesying let her shave it, but it is a shame for a woman to have her hair shaven or shorn.
The emphasis here is on worship, prayer during church service. God says, My house shall be called the house of prayer. , when you are praying have something to cover your hair as a woman. Those people who do not cover their head are disobedient to the word of God and they are not going to heaven because the disobedient do not go to heaven.
So, you cover your head when you are in worship, praying in church, at home or anywhere you are praying or prophesying. Aside from this you have liberty to do what you want to do, either to cover your head or to leave it open because there is no rule of God guiding that. It is what you choose to do.
You are free to leave it open in the street in the market, at your school but as long as you dress neatly and decently in righteousness and holiness. You are free to leave it open because the Bible says the long hair is given to the woman for a covering. You need not always cover with a veil while not in prayer, since as you are going about your hair is a covering for you. You have long hair that covers your head, so you are free to leave it open in your normal business.
But what if you choose to still cover it? It is your choice. The law of God does not condemn you for covering it. No, it does not condemn you, but it has only entreated you to do so in the house of God in prophesying and in prayer. As for your normal life, the choice is yours.
Do you want to have it covered all the time? In fact, when you are sleeping do you want to have it covered? But I think there is need for medical counselling in this respect. Whether you are covering or not covering it is not a transgression of God outside the church or
