FRIDAY NOVEMBER 1
EXT: ACT 18:18-19
Key verse: Romans 1:15 “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
Paul took with him Priscilla and Aquila on his trip to Syria and Ephesus. He used to travel for Gospel work with Barnabas but suddenly changed his approach. This unanticipated changed in companionship was due to Pricilla and Aquila's commitment and loyalty to the gospel work with him.
Priscilla's actions in the gospel work with Paul show that she was not a careless woman in her quest to serve the Lord. She was desirous to serve God regardless of the potential risks. Her heart was in total submission to the Lord.
In today's context, some gospel ministers' wives may choose to take the back seat by giving unworthy excuses to their God-fearing husbands, when it comes to cooperating with them in the gospel work. Such women don't want to take risks and always avoid doing the work of God.
A case in point is the wife of one of my coordinators who gave me an excuse when I asked her to teach in a Bible study. She sent me a text message via phone saying that she could not teach in a crowd due to shyness. The Lord spoke to me that I should insist to let her go and do it. She ended up teaching in that Bible study with an outstanding performance. This tells us that there are privileges that God brings to your way, but sometimes you tend to ignore them.
In retrospect of the above, wives of Christian leaders including HOREMOW Coordinators should stop giving excuses in the ministry work. Priscilla never gave excuses to the gospel work. She was always supportive and loyal to the gospel work with Paul along with her husband, Aquila. What people are looking for came in your hands but you're toying with it.
Priscilla and Aquila made use of the privilege they had with Paul. The Act of the Apostle shows that Priscilla was the source of inspiration for her husband's commitment to the gospel work with Paul. In fact, Priscilla's name was given higher priority for over three times in the scriptures under Paul's ministry than her husband.
Theologians reasoned that Pricilla's name was even more pronounced in the scriptures than her husband. She had an open heart and was very committed to God's work.
Thought for the day: Priscilla was always supportive and loyal to the gospel work.
Song for the day: I want to be like Daniel, I want to be like Priscilla, to follow Jesus Christ....
Bible Reading for the day: Jeremiah 31-32; Titus 2
