TEXT: Judges 6:14-17
Key verse: Judges 6:16 And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.
In the book of Judges, the Lord was telling Gideon, you are a mighty man of valour, you are a warrior, you are a captain of the host, you will do great exploits for God, you will win great battle for God. Gideon said, “Who am I, what is my father's house?” But God assured him to go and fight against the Midianites and that He will give them over to him.
Gideon was not even sure it was God talking to him. He put out many tests to confirm it was God calling him into service. To cap it all, God leaked to him a privileged information that the fear of Gideon had gripped the Midianite camp. Then Gideon became convinced and emboldened that he could win the battle.
In this spiritual battle, I want you to note something very important that Gideon did. Judges 7:17, 18 And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do. When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.
Gideon said to his warriors, what you see me do, do also. I am doing it by inspiration. I am doing it by divine instruction and he that instructed me to do it will produce great result. I am fetching water into these six water pots because I was instructed to do so. I am fetching out to give to the governor of the feast because I am instructed to do so.
Surely the finest wine will come out to satisfy invited guests at the wedding at Canaan. That is the way to go about it and achieve great results. Receive from God, transmit to your followers and together great success shall be achieved.
