TEXT: Proverbs 3:5-8
KEY VERSE: Psalm 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Are you seeking a marriage partner? Take it to the Lord in prayer. Do not lean on your own understanding. Do not use carnality in choosing a marriage partner. What appears good in your sight may be an abomination in the sight of God. Not all that glitters is gold.
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
God knows how to give good gifts to his children. Don't say God has led you when actually, you have led yourself. We have seen instances where somebody became a serial suitor. She would come to the marriage committee and say God led her to a marriage partner only to renege later and say it was no longer so.
This repeated itself up to about three times. Our God is not a God of confusion. Obviously, God has not been leading in these instances. These choices are products of carnal influence. If you want God to work in your marriage, operate according to divine order. God will not deal with you outside his holiness.
Don't run faster than God as Sarah did and almost derailed God's plan in their marriage. The key to marital bliss is love and submissiveness.
To the woman God is saying in
1 Peter 3:3-6, “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.”
To the man, God says love your wife. The test of love is sacrifice. Forgive. Be patient. Care for her even in your poverty. Bible says love is not easily provoked, does not puff up, bears all things and endures all things (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).
Thought for the day:
Let God choose for you and rule in your marriage.
Song for the day:
Lord, teach me your way.
