EVERY WORD OF GOD FOR DAILY LIVING

Acts 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the Glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God.
When the Lord resurrected from the dead, the dead old testament saints too came out and went with him to heaven. This was when paradise moved from under the earth to heaven above. From that time those who die in Christ no longer go to the lower part of the earth, but straight to heaven.
Their souls go straight to heaven and as such there is nothing like soul sleeping since paradise, their place of abode is now in heaven. From the account of the martyrdom of Stephen as seen in our reading text, Jesus was standing in heaven at the right hand of God the Father and was ready to receive the soul of the righteous that was on the verge of death on earth.
So, the souls of the righteous people now go straight to heaven.
Paul the apostle also spoke in the same vein when he said in Philippians 1: 23 for I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better.
If I depart, I will be with Christ.
Where is Christ? He is in heaven. If I die and leave this world now, I will go straight to Jesus who will be the one welcoming me to heaven.
Therefore, righteous people are no more in hell, where paradise used to exist in one compartment and “hell fire” in the other compartment.
Nevertheless, sinners are still in hell fire, the place of punishment meant for those who died without Christ. Sinners who are presently there now shall resurrect in due time and taken to the final place of death called the lake of fire. Where the lake of fire is now we cannot tell, but sinners will be going there.
Thought for the day:
To be with Christ is far better:
