Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Many things in life will challenge your Christian faith, but you must remain consistent and steadfast to the end. A story was told of about forty Roman soldier many years ago known as the "Forty Martyrs of Sebaste" who were condemned unless they deny Jesus.
They tortured them brutally and when the soldiers would still not recant their faith they were exposed naked in the cool of the day in a frozen pond and they started dying one by one. As each person died, an angel came with a crown and carried to give to the victories Christian and took him to heaven. The guard placed in charge over this persecution has been watching closely the entire time and saw that with each dying Christian an angel stood by with a crown at hand to give to the passing soldier and took him into glory. As the fortieth man couldn't take the cold anymore and ran out of the frozen pond recanting his faith the soldier standing guard stripped himself and jumped into the pond and took his place instead.
This fortieth man failed Jesus when it mattered most. He failed in his Christian life at the very last moment. As for you, I pray you will not fail in Jesus name.
Hebrews 10:35-39; 35. Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
Are you a just one? Then, you will live by faith. Praise the Lord! If you draw back from the Christian life God will lose interest in you; God will have no pleasure in you. But as for us, we have decided to continue to the end where we will enter heaven and finally escape this world.
That is our irrevocable decision - to continue in the Christian life and to continue in the Christian ministry until we enter heaven. This being our fervent desire, it shall be so in Jesus name. Amen.
